An ideal Employee enjoys:
Individuals like this find the experience personally rewarding themselves. Counselor Counselors have completed high school, including teachers, college students, young adults, parents, and others. A Counselor leads a team of ten to fifteen campers during a Summer Program session, along with other Counselors and Junior Counselors. Counselors guide the Participants through the day's events and help Participants complete the crafts. (Counselors also are permitted to have fun and enjoy all the activities as well.) It is the responsibility of the Counselor to accomplish our mission (character development in a historical context), to ensure the safety of all Participants, and to help Participants work together productively. Junior Counselor Junior Counselors are currently enrolled in high school. A Junior Counselor also works with a team of ten to fifteen Participants during a Summer Program session, but as an assistant to a Counselor. A Junior Counselor is considered a Counselor-in-training, with the hopes that they will return in the future as a Counselor. It is the responsibility of the Junior Counselor to accomplish the mission (character development in a historical context), to ensure the safety of all Participants, and to help Participants work together productively. Internship Internships are available for all positions. An Intern has the same responsibilities as a Counselor, but also is being trained professionally. Usually the Colonial Camp works with an institute of higher learning to supervise the Intern responsibilities The Colonial Camp is happy to help prepare tomorrow's leaders for successful careers and contributions to society. We will help create an opportunity specific to the needs of the individual. Volunteer A volunteer has the same responsibilities as a Counselor. We accept parents as volunteers. Also, some individuals, interested in the welfare of young men and women, or interested in Colonial history, may wish to volunteer their time. Staff There are many Staff positions during each session of a Summer Program. They involve background tasks that are in addition to leading a team, for example: photography, registration and records, managing crafts, supervising chores, etcetera. Director The Colonial Camp is looking for individuals who would be interested in becoming future Program Directors. |
