Vulgarity and Obscenity

Vulgarity and obscenity will not be tolerated at the Colonial Camp.

The mission of the Colonial Camp is to develop character in young men and women. While it may be permissible, acceptable, or even normal in certain social contexts to use vulgar or obscene language, this type of language is not germane to the spirit of the Colonial Camp. Therefore, campers are strongly urged to refrain from any and all obscenities and vulgarities. This includes acronyms, veiled references, or euphemisms of vulgarisms and obscenities, regardless of how socially acceptable they may be.

Vulgar and obscene language includes, but is not limited to, those terms which are commonly called "cussing." Vulgarity and obscenity includes vain, casual, or insulting references to sexual behaviors and function, ethnic origin, bodily functions, body parts, religion and religious belief, parental status at conception, etcetera. Violence

Fighting will not be tolerated at at all. Participants that cannot show self control and restraint to avoid violent behavior will be isolated quickly and sent home.

Threats and intimidation will also not be tolerated.

Refusal to Follow Instructions

For the safety and well-being of Participants, all campers must follow the instructions of the Staff. The Staff will take seriously any refusal to follow instructions and will take whatever action necessary to remedy the violation, up to and including sending a camper home.

Being Kind and Considerate

Participants are welcome to be kind, considerate, and loving to others. (Of course, it's also okay if the Staff also models these attitudes. In fact, it would probably be okay if we demonstrated courtesy, mercy, and generosity as well.)

It is also fine to work hard and have a positive attitude.

There are many rewards for Participants who demonstrate these characteristics.
